Mission:
Our mission is to create an inclusive environment where children with special needs encounter God's love, grow in faith, and participate fully in the sacramental life of the Catholic Church.
Objectives:
- To create a welcoming space for children with special needs to experience God's love.
- To provide catechesis that supports each child's faith journey.
- To empower families as primary faith educators.
- To ensure children receive the sacraments with understanding and grace.
- To foster an inclusive community where children are embraced as vital members of the Church.
Key Roles as a Special Needs Befriender/Catechist:
The main function of a Special Needs Befriender/Catechist is to be a source of support, a helping hand and a listening ear for the child through visual and sensory tools that would enhance their learning formation through prayers and movement at their own pace.
They work together with parents and mainstream catechists to provide added resources and support for better outcomes.
Frequency:
We assist with weekly catechism classes across different age groups on either of these days and timings:
- Saturdays at 1.30pm-2.30pm or 2.30pm-3.30pm
- Sundays at 8am-9.15am or 10am-11.15am
Members’ meeting:
We meet once every two months for fellowship, updates and planning.

RCIA Ministry – Come and See
The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) ministry at the Church of the Holy Cross accompanies those who are exploring the Catholic faith or discerning a deeper relationship with Christ. Through prayer, faith sharing, and formation, we journey together as a community, responding to God’s call.
Mission:
To evangelise and be witnesses of the Catholic faith.

RCIA is open to:
- Those seeking to learn more about the Catholic faith
- Baptised Christians from other denominations discerning entry into the Catholic Church
- Each person’s faith journey is respected and gently supported as they prepare to receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and the Holy Eucharist.
Called to Serve as an RCIA Sponsor?
Practising Catholics who feel called to accompany others on their faith journey are invited to serve as RCIA sponsors. Sponsors offer prayer, encouragement, and personal witness, walking alongside candidates as they grow in faith.

Mission
Encounter – Build vibrant communities where young people can encounter Christ, be transformed by His love and experience Him through each other as disciples. We are given opportunities to Encounter Christ through our Yearly Retreats, Day of Recollections (DOR) and during Eucharistic Adoration at some sessions.
Engage – Disciples who are ready to engage the commission of Christ: To make disciples of all nations. We engage through fellowship during the year (CNY, Easter, Christmas) and through service to the wider parish with events such as Mother’s Day, Feast Day and Catechist Retreats. We come together as one and to celebrate the gift of joy and the presence of one another through such events.
Empower – Disciples who are empowered by the Holy Spirit and equipped as leaders to minister to the young people and serve the community. We empower a space for service within the youth communities and to empower the communities with a safe and comfortable space to share and pray together so that we can be formed to be disciples of Christ.
